Kinkakuji

Kinkakuji (金閣寺, Golden Pavilion) is a Zen sanctuary in northern Kyoto whose main two stories are totally secured in gold leaf. Formally known as Rokuonji, the sanctuary was the retirement estate of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and as per his will it turned into a Zen sanctuary of the Rinzai order after his passing in 1408. Kinkakuji was the motivation for the comparably named Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), constructed by Yoshimitsu's grandson, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, on the opposite side of the city a couple of decades later.

Kinkakuji is an amazing structure manufactured neglecting an expansive lake, and is the main building left of Yoshimitsu's previous retirement complex. It has torched various times all through its history including twice amid the Onin War, a common war that pulverized a lot of Kyoto; and by and by all the more as of late in 1950 when it was determined to flame by a fan friar. The present structure was reconstructed in 1955.
